The Choir Conductor
MR. IVAN DELOS REYES GRULLA
A chorale conductor, an accompanist and a teacher by profession, a graduate student of Lacson College with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, born in the "land of famous and great musicians", Cavite.
At the age of 15, he discovered his skills and love in music when he joined the Magdiwang 89 Brass Band in Noveleta, Cavite, as 3rd trumpet player under the baton of Ms. Daisy Galicia. He learned reading musical notations and pieces such as overture and symphony band scores.
During his college days in Emilio Aguinaldo College, he joined EAC Chorale under the baton of Prof. Agripino “Nonoy” Diestro. His knowledge in music has been developed through singing in chorale.
Year 1998 was the beginning of his service to our Lord, by joining the Staff of Jesus Prayer Community, a charismatic group in Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Pasay City. After a year, he established his own choir, The Second Chronicle Gospel Singers, composed of students from different schools and colleges in Pasay and young professionals. He started to teach choral pieces such as religious, folklore, novelty and popular songs. For ten years as choir director, He made this choir as one of the best choirs in Pasay City.
His passion in music, love and dedication of his service to our God Almighty and a Marian devotee, brought himself to composed his first Marian song entitled “Sa Kanlungan ng Ina ng Dalamhati” (with SATB arrangement) in honor to Our Lady of Sorrows.
For the following years, he used to share his knowledge and talent in music as choir conductor of the following choirs: DepEd-Pasay Chorale, The Phil. Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) Choir, Philippine Coast Guard Chorale, The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasay Chorale and Blessed Elena Academy Choir .
At present, he is a member of the Philippine Choral Directors Association (PCDA), choir conductor of Leviticus Chamber Singers a church based choir of the Archdiocese Shrine of Jesus the Way, the Truth and the Life in Pasay City and his children’s choir, “Munting Tinig ng Kagitingan of Andres Bonifacio Elementary School, Pasay City.
